I recently learned of The Mini-Time Machine, a museum located in Tucson, Arizona that's dedicated to miniatures and whose collection contains over 160 miniature houses and room boxes.
Artifacts are organized into three main areas; the Enchanted Realm containing woodland creatures, snow villages, fairy castles and a witches compound; the History Gallery housing one of the oldest miniature houses in the United States (c1775), examples of craftsmanship and technique that exemplify contemporary as well as different time periods or have historical value and significance; and Exploring the World showing examples of how miniatures are used in other cultures with items from artisans representing the U.K., France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Thailand, Greece, Turkey and Spain among others.
Before I got into miniatures, I never realized that a musuem of this type existed. Maybe next winter, we should vacation in Arizona...
